This phase of a security plan is perhaps the most
critical. It is within this process that
we identify all of the critical parameters that create the objectives for the
security plan. The risk & threat assessment (RTA) as it relates to security, has several components that contribute towards a
summary assessment of what the needs are for the property, project, organization or
enterprise. We approach this task using
the methodologies and fundamentals of protecting people,
property and assets.
When we perform a risk & threat assessment, our work product includes a comprehensive report that generates both a detailed and overview assessment of the subject property and organization. This report categorizes our findings with severity ratings allowing for an analytical and budgetary decision making process by the client. Often our findings will yield low cost solutions towards facility and property hardening.
Within the RTA, we take into consideration the following:
·
Environment, location, historical security events
·
Threats and risks from man-made and natural
events
Regional crime statistics
·
Imminent threats or risks
·
Budgetary requirements
·
Return on investment – cost benefit analysis
·
Crime Prevention thru Environmental Design
(CPTED)
·
Breach testing and benchmarking
Post security plan operating parameters
·
Interaction with other platforms and
technologies
·
Emergency response plans
·
Existing system audits and performance
evaluation
